Thanks to the Edge

Sila layari The Edge. Thanks to Lam Jian Wyn and The Edge for your concerns.

Like Father,Like Son

The father-son duo of Karpal and Gobind Singh was hit with a double whammy when Puchong rep Gobind was handed a 12-month suspension after implicating Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in the Altantuya Sharibuu murder case last week, while Karpal was charged with sedition for saying that the Perak Sultan can be sued for his role in the removal of the state’s menteri besar.

The blogosphere appears divided on this issue. Some reckon that it’s their mouths that got them into trouble. Pencak_Silat is smug about their predicament. “Well, they have paid their prize (sic) as they do not adhere to one principle of Rukunegara; that is ‘Kesopanan dan kesusilaan’.”

Cybercdo feels that the moral of this story is to hold your tongue. “Watch what you say so that you don’t regret it in the future.” Meiyen also holds a similar and practical opinion, writing that “the suspension will also act as a deterrent to other MPs to keep a lid on their totally out of sync behavior,” adding that MPs should focus on more pressing issues instead of “playing blame games and making wild and disparaging statements.”

Others such as Jarod are on the side of the father-son duo. Applauding their dynamics and their outspokeness, he gushes: “The last time I seen this combination, it was in between Lim Guan Eng and Lim Kit Siang. To Karpal, you have my respect even some time I may not agree with your straight forwardness. To Gobind, you are people's YB. I do not need to say anything. Remarkable. ”

Klang MP Charles Santiago urged the soon-to-be-premier to focus on the economy instead of Gobind and Karpal. “ ...Najib must be reminded that he is set to take over the leadership of the country when Malaysia is faced with the worst possible recession since the 1998 Asian financial crisis,” he writes.

Finally, Cakap-Lepas playfully warns Datuk Zambry Kadir and his exco members not to mess with the Perak speaker. “If you end up without salaries, then you’ll know.”
